  Traffic Jam Solutions

Traffic jam is the main problem in Jakarta’s traffic convenient. From years to years the volume of vehicle keeps increasing while the road keeps narrowing. The issues are the cheap price for the vehicle down payment, it makes people from every economic class could afford to buy vehicles while building and private residences keeps increasing and make the road narrower. Another issue is, the public transportation which should be the solution of traffic jam indeed worsen the traffic by park anywhere in the road to carry away passengers. Those issues are problems that the government tried to solve for many years.

The first idea that comes up in my mind is making the new idea of transportation system, which is subway. It is an underground tunnel for an ordinary train, which can carry passengers. The idea to put an ordinary train to an underground tunnel is adopted from “MRT system” from Singapore. This idea can bring up positive effect of moving most of transportation activities to the underground.

The second idea is making the term bike to work more intense. The steps are creating advertising that can persuade and give information of the “bike to work” advantages. Also making more roads only for bicycle. I believe if this idea is successful can reduce up to 40% of the traffic problems.

The next idea is upgrade the 3 in 1 system become 4 in 1. We know that 3 in 1 areas are no longer a problem because there are many jockeys we can rent. This jockey renting is not a new thing for Jakarta citizen. The jockeys usually ask from 25.000-30.000 rupiah for each, not a big deal if it is only for 1-2 jockey. But if we have to rent 3 jockeys, it will cost from 75.000-90.000 rupiah and it is not cheap at all. By this upgraded 3 in 1 system, people who usually rent jockeys will think twice before passing certain roads.

Last, the conclusion is although there are some methods or solutions that we can try to reduce the traffic problem, the real problem is still on the both government and citizens. If only one side act, the mission will not succeed. Government has to make a decision with citizen’s approval and support, with that the traffic problems in Jakarta will reduce slow but sure.

My opinion about the video:

The video that is shown by the lecturer are amazing. I never seen something like that before, the idea creator of the video must be very creative and innovative, i always want to be creative and innovative to be able to create something useful and amazing. Be creative and innovative is very important.

Different type of transportation i use to go to campus. 

1. 

By my private car. This is a picture of me driving to campus. I mostly use my car to go everywhere, only by certain condition i use public transportation. I feel comfortable driving my own car, even alone. Usually i listen to music while driving to handle the boredom.

I often use public transportation to go to campus, but last week i took a taxi to drive me to campus. I prefer a good taxi company such as bluebird. Last week i did not have a chance to take a picture because i was busy of preparing my assignment, then i’m just journalizing my experience. The bluebird taxi is one of the most famous taxi company in Indonesia, the service and quality of the taxi itself is quite good. Although the price is quite high, it is worth it with the service.

This is the fire exit sign in front of the toilet door. I found them interesting because it directs the people in JWC campus to the emergency exit whenever there is a fire disaster. The picture of the sign itself is interesting because it is colorful and user friendly because the picture is understandable.
